Discover Our Supportive Housing Model
At HSI, we offer permanent supportive housing through a coordinated, person-centered approach. Every aspect of resident support—from social services and front desk safety to maintenance—is delivered in-house by dedicated HSI staff. This integrated model ensures consistency, accountability, and a shared mission: helping people stay housed and live with dignity.
What makes It Work
Our model is grounded in respect, autonomy, and long-term housing stability. We meet people where they are and offer flexible, voluntary services that support their goals.
95% of tenants who enter HSI’s programs remain stably housed and do not return to shelter or require a higher level of care.
Safe, Stable Housing – Low-Barrier Access
We believe safe, stable housing is a foundational need—and the first step toward improved health, recovery, and self-sufficiency. There are no requirements for sobriety, treatment, or service participation to access an HSI apartment. Housing provides the stability people need to take the next steps in their lives.
Our on-site services are personalized, trauma-informed, and designed to address the underlying causes of housing instability. These include:
-
Mental health support and psychiatric care
-
Substance use counseling and relapse prevention
-
Connection to primary medical care
-
Vocational and educational programs
-
Case management and coordinated care
Building Community and Connection
A home is more than four walls—it’s a place to belong. Our RISE (Reaching Independence through Support and Education) program helps residents build confidence, skills, and community through:
-
Art and writing workshops
-
Theater classes
-
Job readiness and computer literacy
-
Lifelong learning courses
-
Community celebrations and more
Launched in 2007 at Kenmore Hall, RISE is now offered across all HSI residences.
More Than Housing—A Path Forward
